During the 2017 European Fine Art Fair (TEFAF), Brightlands held the Brightlands at TEFAF Event for entrepreneurs and young professionals at the Brightlands Smart Services Campus in Heerlen. The theme of the event was SM(ART) Intelligence.

As part of this event the Brightlands Smart Service Campus commissioned an exhibit that would be taking place throughout the building and during the events. The exhibit was focussing on digital Art and the question of “How does Art look at (Big-)Data?”

Next to several original work by Luc Merx and Tim Berresheim  five digital presentations were reflecting different forms and subjects of digital Art:  Appropriation through digital (Game-)Art by e.g. Cory Archangel, Eva and Franco Mattes and JODI; Art and Big Data through the works of Bartholomäus Traubeck, Ryoji Ikeda, Suicide Box/Bureau of Inverse Technology and Tim Knowles; Computer Graphics in C64 intro culture; Computer generated graphics by Jürg Lehni and the Warhol Amiga Preservation Files.; Generative Art through works of Casey Raes, Harvey Moon and Luc Dubois.

The exhibition was curated, edited and produced by Frank Ortmanns
